Bhopal, Jul 22 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Wednesday, two days ahead of schedule after transacting all necessary business listed for the day.
Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, who made the adjournment announcement, said during the three-day monsoon session which began on Monday, the Assembly transacted necessary business, including legislative, financial and of public interest.
The House also passed the first supplementary budget for the year 2026-27, he said.
The highlight of the short session was the introduction and passage of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, which was passed by the Assembly with a voice vote amid uproar by the Opposition Congress.
Thus, the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh has become the fourth state to implement the UCC — a law governing personal matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance, and succession for all state residents irrespective of their religion — after Goa, Assam and Uttarakhand.
