Budaun (UP), Apr 21 (PTI) A woman and her three-month-old son were killed and nine others injured on Tuesday after a speeding car rammed into a tractor-trolley on the Bijnor highway in the district, police said.
The accident occurred near the Ughaiti area when the car collided head-on with the oncoming tractor-trolley, causing it to overturn. The impact threw the passengers onto the road, triggering panic among bystanders, they said.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hirdesh Kumar Katheriya, the victims, residents of Basoma village in Ujhani area, were travelling to Samadnagar village in Islamnagar to attend a ceremony.
The injured were rushed to Rudayan Community Health Centre, where doctors declared Suman, 24, and her infant son dead.
The accident led to a long traffic jam on the highway. Police later cleared the road and restored traffic.
