Neemuch (MP), Apr 2 (PTI) Police had to resort to baton-charge and lob tear gas shells on Thursday to control a stone-pelting mob protesting against the molestation of a 11-year-old girl in Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh, an official said.
The girl was allegedly molested by a 55-year-old man in Paddan village, he added.
Seeking strict action against the man and demolition of his allegedly illegal house, a mob comprising villagers protested, he said.
“The mob vandalised the accused’s house, and also started pelting stones at the police. To control the situation, police used force, including lathi-charge, and then fired tear gas shells,” the official said.
The man accused of molestation has been arrested, Superintendent of Police Ankit Jaiswal told PTI.
“The situation in the village is currently peaceful. Police has been deployed there as a precautionary measure. Those who disturbed law and order and vandalized the accused’s house are being identified. Appropriate legal action will be taken against them,” the SP informed. PTI HWP MAS BNM
