Aizawl, Apri 16 (PTI) The Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department seized over 10 kg of methamphetamine and arrested four persons, including a Myanmar national, during an operation in Aizawl, an official said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the department officials conducted a raid near Folkland Park on Wednesday, and recovered 10.02 kg of methamphetamine in the form of one lakh tablets, Spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said. Methamphetamine, also called ‘crazy drug’, is a powerful addictive substance that is banned in India.
The arrested individuals include two residents of Assam’s Karimganj and a Myanmar national, he said.
The accused have been booked under Section 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and produced before a court in Aizawl on Thursday, he said.
The Excise Department has seized 7.24 kg of heroin, 49.39 kg of methamphetamine, and 90.83 kg of ganja, along with other narcotic substances, since January, the official added. PTI CORR RBT
