Aizawl, Apr 16 (PTI) Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Thursday launched the house listing and housing census operations for the country’s first digital census at Lok Bhavan here, officials said.

With the launch, Mizoram joined the rest of the country in commencing the first phase of the general census exercise, which will continue till May 15.

Urging all field functionaries to discharge their duties with dedication and sincerity, the governor instructed officials to ensure that no household is left behind.

Singh advised enumerators to provide a clear explanation of the process to the public to ensure that every individual and household is accurately recorded.

He also appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to the census officials and enumerators.

During the event, H. Lalremruati, the enumerator appointed for Lok Bhavan, processed the governor’s official entry using the Self Enumeration ID (SE-ID) generated from his self-enumeration conducted on April 7.

The event was attended by senior officials from the directorate of census operations, including municipal commissioner and principal census officer Joseph H. Lalramsanga, and additional GAD secretary and state nodal officer Irene Zohlimpuii Chongthu. PTI CORR MNB
