Bijnor (UP), Apr 21 (PTI) A 26-year-old man allegedly slit the throat of his 18-year-old live-in partner before stabbing himself and sustaining serious injuries in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor on Tuesday, police said.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha said the incident took place in Kanshiram Colony near Ramlila Maidan, where the accused, identified as Rahul, attacked Kashish at her residence following an argument. He later stabbed himself.
Police broke open the door after being alerted by local residents and found both lying in a pool of blood. They were rushed to a hospital where Kashish was declared dead, while Rahul is undergoing treatment.
According to police, Kashish’s mother was in Punjab at the time of the incident. The two had been in a relationship for the past four years, and Rahul was allegedly pressuring her to marry him. He is already married and had apparently left his wife and children and was living in a live-in relationship with Kashish.
Police said a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had been registered against Rahul on October 19 last year on a complaint by Kashish’s mother, and he had been arrested in that case. Rahul is a resident of Gokulpur locality in Bijnor. PTI COR KIS ZMN
