Man held for assaulting, molesting minor girl in Navi Mumbai

Thane, Apr 6 (PTI) A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting and molesting a minor girl in Rabale area of Navi Mumbai, a police official said on Monday.

Accused Vivek Gajanan Kadam, a resident of Ghansoli, works as an office help, Rabale police station senior inspector Balkrishna Sawant said.

“On April 4, at around 8:30am, when the victim was walking along a road, Kadam came from behind, kicked her, asked her name and then indulged in an indecent act. A case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for assault, molestation and other offences,” the official said.

He was arrested on the basis of CCTV footage and tip-offs from informants, the official added. PTI COR BNM
