Mumbai, Jul 22 (PTI) Poll authorities in Maharashtra on Wednesday said they have distributed elector-specific enumeration forms to 84 per cent voters in the state under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and digitised more than half of the forms received so far.
As per the daily bulletin issued by the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), 8.22 crore enumeration forms have been distributed to voters whose total number stood at 9.79 crore, taking the overall distribution to 84 per cent.
Of these, 5.01 crore forms have been digitised, accounting for 51.18 per cent of the total electorate, it said.
The SIR enumeration exercise, which began on June 30, will continue till August 8.
According to the data, Maharashtra has a total of 9,78,54,049 electors and there are 1,00,253 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) engaged in the exercise.
Among major districts, Pune has distributed 65.26 per cent of forms and digitised 34.22 per cent, while Thane has achieved 58.35 per cent distribution and 18.22 per cent digitisation. Mumbai Suburban reported 59.12 per cent distribution and 17.39 per cent digitisation, while Mumbai City recorded 63.15 per cent distribution and 27.67 per cent digitisation.
Among the better-performing large districts, Ahilyanagar (formerly Ahmednagar) has distributed 98.67 per cent of forms, Jalgaon 99.82 per cent, Amravati 99.55 per cent and Buldhana 99.65 per cent.
In terms of digitisation, Ratnagiri has made the highest progress at 80.95 per cent, followed by Yavatmal (80.6 per cent), Chandrapur (75.66 per cent), Parbhani (74.83 per cent), Buldhana (74.33 per cent) and Gadchiroli (73.07 per cent).
The bulletin also showed relatively lower digitisation levels in the Mumbai metropolitan region, with Mumbai Suburban (17.39 per cent), Thane (18.22 per cent) and Mumbai City (27.67 per cent) recording the slowest progress, while Palghar stood at 29.64 per cent and Pune at 34.22 per cent.
The Election Commission has deployed BLOs across all assembly constituencies to distribute, collect and facilitate digitisation of the enumeration forms as part of the revision of electoral rolls. PTI MR NP
