Mumbai, Jun 22 (PTI) The Maharashtra Assembly on Monday observed brief silence to pay tribute to legendary playback singers Asha Bhosle and Suman Kalyanpur, who passed away earlier this year.
On the opening day of the assembly, Speaker Rahul Narwekar read out the condolence motion, and the House stood in silence for a minute.
The House also condoled the demise of former members Anantrao Thopte, Vithalrao Dhote, Baliram Kotkar-Patil, Krishnarao Deshmukh, Patlya Mawaskar, Vasantrao Suryavanshi, Suresh Kumar Jethliya, Usha Devi Jagdale and Shankuntala Sharma.
Bhosle (92), who ruled Bollywood music for over eight decades, died due to multi-organ failure at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on April 12, while Kalyanpur (89) passed away at her residence due to age-related issues earlier this month. PTI MR ARU
