Bhopal, May 29 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said he had ordered an inquiry into some idols of the Mahakal Lok corridor in Ujjain getting damaged in a storm.

Six of the seven idols of ‘Saptarishis’ installed at corridor developed on the Mahakaleshwar temple premises collapsed and suffered damage due to gusty winds at around 4pm on Sunday.

“I am getting the matter inquired and have sought a report,” Chouhan told reporters on the sidelines of an event to mark nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

The idols that got damaged were made of fibre, he said, adding it was not possible to make heavy stone figures at such places.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Mahakal Lok corridor project in October last year.

The opposition Congress has alleged corruption in the construction of the corridor and said it must be probed.

The total cost of the Mahakal Lok project is Rs 856 crore with the first phase costing Rs 351 crore. PTI MAS BNM BNM
