Nagpur, Jan 18 (PTI) The forest department has seized a leopard skin and 11 nails and arrested three persons in this connection in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, an official said on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out jointly by the forest department units in Nagpur and Wadsa (Gadchiroli), he said.
“The forest department had got a tip-off that a leopard had been killed and people were selling its skin and other body parts. Accordingly, a trap was laid and three accused were nabbed on January 16. A leopard skin and 11 nails were seized from them,” Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Nagpur Dr Bharat Singh Hada said.
All the three accused are residents of Ramgad in Kurkheda taluka of Gadchiroli, he said.
The forest department has registered offences against the accused under relevant Wild Life Protection Act, the official said. PTI CLS NP NP
