New Delhi: A video of a little boy saluting Indian troops in Ladakh’s Chushul went viral on Twitter Sunday, with BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar even pledging to arrange a scholarship corpus for the boy.

The MP also said he would be willing to put the “young warrior” in one of the Sainik schools, which are meant to prepare students as officers in the defence services.

Shared on Twitter by the official handle of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Sunday, the video shows a young boy in a blue and white hooded jumper saluting the ITBP troops passing by. A couple of the soldiers even stop to correct the child’s posture and he promptly and enthusiastically follows their instructions.

The video went viral, with more than 32,000 views, 6,000 likes and 1,000 retweets.

“The enthusiastic kid saluting with high josh was randomly clicked by an ITBP Officer on 8 October morning,” said the ITBP, which identified the child as Namgyal.

The video comes at a time when there are tensions between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), and Chushul is located right at the LAC.

The seventh round of high-level military talks between the two countries is set to take place Monday in Chushul. According to government sources, India will negotiate for early and complete disengagement of troops by China from all friction points in eastern Ladakh. Maintaining stability on ground and avoiding triggers for fresh tension in the region as the harsh winter approaches is also expected to be on the agenda.

In the sixth round of military talks held on 21 September, the two sides agreed not to send more troops to the frontline, to refrain from unilaterally changing the situation on the ground and avoid taking any actions that may trigger further complications.

‘Chotta sher’ wins hearts

The video of little Namygyal won hearts across Twitter with several users applauding the boy’s “kadak” salute and “soldier heart”.
