New Delhi: The government is committed to inclusive development and welfare of all sections of the workforce, said Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, while launching a regional meeting on employment generation and labour reforms in Delhi.
The meeting was held with the objective to interact closely with States, identify gaps, address concerns and draw up the way forward in a collaborative manner. States were requested to take a proactive stance in the much-needed two-way integration process to develop eShram portal as One-Stop-Solution. States’ concerns were discussed, queries were addressed, and suggestions for future actions were noted.
The Union Minister emphasised the importance of the role of the States in the successful implementation of the labour reforms. She directed the State Governments to align their policies with the overall vision of the Central Government and to adopt a ‘whole of Government’ approach towards reforming the labour sector.
The Ministry said that the eShram portal has already been integrated with more than ten government schemes and is working towards becoming a One-Stop-Solution for employment. The Union Minister also emphasised the need for data collection and creating an index for ranking States/UTs in terms of employment generation.
