Jamshedpur, Jul 24 (PTI) A junior doctor drowned and another went missing after they ventured into a lake in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district in the early hours of Friday, police said.

Three junior doctors of the state-run MGM Medical College and Hospital had gone to Dimna Lake in Jamshedpur around 3 am, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dayanand Kumar said.

Two of them entered the deep waters and drowned, while the third managed to swim safely to the shore, he said.

“As soon as the incident was reported, police pressed civil defence personnel and divers into service for the rescue operation,” the DSP said.

The body of one of the doctors has been recovered, while a search operation is underway to trace the other, he added. PTI BS SOM
