JK: Ex-revenue official booked for accepting Rs 3 lakh bribe

Jammu, August 11 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday registered a case against a former revenue official of in Kishtwar for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a complainant, officials said.

The ACB registered a case under the prevention of corruption act against Mohmmad Arif Mir, former patwari of Patwar Halqa Trigam, they said.

The case was registered following a verification conducted by the ACB into allegations that the accused, while serving as a public servant, abused his official position by demanding Rs 5 lakh as illegal gratification from the complainant for issuance of a land record document, they said.

According to the ACB, the accused accepted Rs 3 lakh through a cheque as illegal gratification, following which the document was issued.

During the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted a search at the residential premises of the accused at Malipeth, near Grid Station, Kishtwar, in the presence of a magistrate and independent witnesses.
