Gumla (Jharkhand), Jul 30 (PTI) A 40-year-old woman was hacked to death allegedly over a land dispute in Jharkhand’s Gumla district on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place in Khatgaon village in Palkot police station area when the woman, identified as Taramuni Devi, was washing her dishes near a school, officer-in-charge Ankit Raj told reporters.
Her neighbours, Shamil and Anand Dungdung, allegedly attacked her with an axe.
“She sustained severe injuries on her head and other parts of the body and died on the spot. We recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital Gumla for post-mortem,” the police officer said.
According to the victim’s nephew, Ranjit Kerketta, the accused had attacked Taramuni Devi in a similar fashion in 2025 as well. She was seriously injured in that assault, but survived.
Police were conducting raids to nab the two accused and were investigating the case. PTI ANB ACD
