Jammu, Apr 14 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday underscored the importance of selfless service, calling on people to work collectively for the welfare of society, the city, and the nation.
Speaking at a ceremony to mark the upgradation of ‘Apna Bhojanalaya’ at Government Medical College here, he urged people to commit to the cause of feeding the needy and building a legacy worthy of pride.
The Lt Governor also called upon all sections of society to unite in the fight against drug abuse.
“Our aim should be selfless service to our neighbours, our city, and the nation that unites us. A strong J-K means strong families, strong communities…when we uplift every sector, we uplift the Union Territory as a whole,” Sinha said.
“There is no higher duty than serving those in need. To strengthen Apna Bhojanalaya is to strengthen the very fabric of our society,” he said.
The community kitchen is run by Sewa Bharti and supported by J&K Bank along with other donors.
The Lt Governor emphasised that meaningful change does not require vast resources, but rather a spirit of selfless service, vision, persistence and love for the community.
“Today, let us take a pledge that this service will never stop. The kitchen of Apna Bhojanalaya will never grow cold, and every hand in our society will give to the best of its capacity to those who need it most,” Sinha said. PTI TAS RHL
