Malappuram (Kerala), May 7 (PTI) Senior IUML leader P M A Salam on Thursday said that the party has not sought the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the likely UDF ministry.

Salam, the general secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League’s IUML) state committee, said that if the topic arises in discussions within the UDF, the party will indicate its stand.

Regarding the CM issue, he said that anyone in the Congress-led UDF can be considered for the post as everyone has public support.

He further said that there will be discussions regarding it between IUML leaders and the observers sent by the Congress leadership from Delhi in the evening.

“If our view is sought in the discussion, we will indicate it,” Salam told a TV channel here.

He further said that all portfolios in the cabinet were important and the party would decide who from the League will be ministers.

On what portfolios the League was hoping to get, Salam said that ministerial posts were decided in the past when the UDF was in power and if any change was required in that, it would be discussed in a meeting of the front partners.

On the goat head cutting issue highlighted by K T Jaleel, he said that goat heads were available in all butcher shops and it was not clear who cut that particular animal’s head.

“Goat head soup is good for the body. Takes away the stress caused by defeat,” he said in an apparent dig at Jaleel, a Left candidate, who lost from Thavanur constituency to Congress’ V S Joy.

Jaleel in a Facebook post had slammed the parading of a severed goat’s head with a caricature of his face tied around its neck allegedly by some IUML activists in Tirur, terming it as an example of violent politics. PTI HMP KH
