Gurugram, July 20 (PTI) ISKCON Gurugram is organising 25 Rath Yatras across the city from July 15 – 25, creating an atmosphere of spiritual joy and celebration throughout the city.
According to an official statement released on Monday, the festival holds immense spiritual significance. It is believed that anyone who pulls the chariot or has darshan of Lord Jagannath during the procession attains liberation from material suffering.
The events were filled with devotional dancing, kirtan and dramas, providing children and young people with a wonderful opportunity to experience India’s Vedic culture, centred on God consciousness, it said.
It is also one of the rare occasions when the principal Deities themselves come out of the temple to offer darshan, allowing everyone to receive their divine blessings, it said.
The Rath Yatras were organised at several places in the city, including Pataudi, Essel Towers, Farrukhnagar and SGT University.
Such opportunities are rarely found amidst the fast-paced, concrete landscape of Gurugram, the Millennium City, it said.
This massive initiative was inspired by Rambhadra Das, the temple president of (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) ISKCON Gurugram, who in turn drew inspiration from the society’s founder, Srila Prabhupad, who introduced Rath Yatra out of India for the first time in San Francisco in 1967.
