Gurugram: A video from a “stress management session” organised by the Gurugram Police has been widely shared showing police personnel, including some senior officers, along with a few saffron-clad people chanting ‘Hare Rama, Hare Krishna’ inside a conference room.

The session is from 21 October as the Gurugram Police had back then posted pictures of ISKCON members interacting with police personnel in a closed room where the banner of Haryana Police is seen in the background.

“Under the guidance of Shri Vikas Arora, Police Commissioner of Gurugram, a #Stress_Management_Session was organized for police personnel in collaboration with ISKCON. In this session, #Shri_Aradhya_Gaur_Prabhu explained the causes of stress and ways to remain stress-free through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita,” the Gurugram Police had posted on social media platform ‘X’.

The ISKCON’s Gurugram chapter also shared pictures of the event on ‘X’ on 22 October.

A senior police officer told The Print Sunday that the event was a stress management session to “destress” the police personnel.

“Our police personnel are constantly in stress because of the long working hours and the nature of their duties. Hence, we keep organising sessions where the speakers train them on how to destress. We also keep holding heartfulness sessions for our personnel,” the senior officer said.

This particular session by the ISKCON was for one hour, out of which just 10 minutes were dedicated to ‘Bhajan Kirtan’, he added.

The senior police officer also provided a letter from the ISKCON wherein the organisation is shown contacting a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) with a request to hold a session for the Gurugram Police.

“We sincerely appreciate the tireless dedication of the Gurugram Police in maintaining peace and security across the city. Recognizing the immense pressure your team faces daily, we at ISKCON, Sector-67, Gurugram, would like to offer our support by organizing an interactive session focused on stress management (sic),” reads the letter.

“In today’s world, where rapid modernization and the overwhelming use of technology have led to social isolation and increased stress levels, it’s crucial to address these challenges, even within the uniformed forces. Our proposed session aims to provide valuable insights and practical tools for managing stress effectively,” it adds.

The session details given in the letter are ‘Topic: Stress Management’ while the speaker is ISKCON Gurugram president Ramabhadra Prabhu.

The video drew mixed reactions from the internet users, with some ‘X’ users criticising the police for the event and wanted the officers to be brought to book, while several others saw nothing wrong in it.

  1. X (formerly Twitter) is a weird place.
Scantily clad girls doing item dances in premier institutions under the garb of “cultural” program/fest gets support and love from X users.
Whereas, the venerable ISKCON assisting Gurugram Police in stress management leads to outrage on X with users asking for senior police officials to be booked.
Clearly shows which way our society is headed. It’s sad and disappointing.
