New Delhi: At around 2 am Thursday, Saif Ali Khan was startled awake by a commotion in his Bandra residence. The noise came from the room where his youngest son, Jeh, was sleeping. Saif, Kareena, and a few staff members rushed to the room, where they found Eliyama Phillip, their nurse, in a heated confrontation with a man presumed to be in his 30s. The intruder, armed with a knife, was heard demanding Rs 1 crore from Philip, according to sources.

“Jeh, Saif Ali Khan’s son was sleeping in the bedroom and the staff member said that she saw the attacker in the room. A confrontation ensued and he attacked her first. We are verifying all details,” a source in the Mumbai Police said to ThePrint.

Saif walked in to find Phillip resisting the attacker. It is then that the actor stepped in to help. In the struggle, he was stabbed six times, sustaining two deep wounds—one near his neck and another on his hand.

As the attack unfolded, another staff member, Geeta, intervened and was also injured in the process. The intruder fled the scene upon seeing additional staff members arrive.

Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital at around 3 am, where he underwent surgery. According to doctors, he is now out of danger. Meanwhile, the police were informed, and an investigation is underway.

According to the FIR, a copy of which is with ThePrint, the report was filed based on a complaint by 56-year-old Phillip, who has been living with the Khan family for the past four years to care for Jeh. The Khan family resides on the 11th and 12th floors of the Satguru Sharan building.

“There are 03 rooms on the 11th floor and Saif sir and Kareena Ma’am stay in one of them. The second is Taimur’s room. Nurse Geeta takes care of Taimur. Jeh stays in the third room and Junu and I take care of him. Junu also works as a nanny,” the FIR reads.

According to the FIR, Phillip had put Jeh to bed at 11 pm, but she was awakened around 2 am by a sound.

“I got up and saw the bathroom door in the room open and the bathroom light on. Then I fell asleep again thinking that Kareena Ma’am must have come to meet Jeh Baba. But again, I sensed that something was wrong,” she says.

As she tried to peek into the bathroom to see who was inside, the intruder began moving toward Jeh’s bed.

“Seeing that, I quickly got up and went to Jeh, and put his finger near his mouth and said ‘no sound’ in Hindi. At this point the other nanny Junu also woke up from sleep,” the FIR reads.

The intruder then threatens them saying “koi awaaz nahi aur koi bahar bhi nahi jayaaga (no one will step out or make any noise)”.

“At that time, when I went to pick up Jeh, he (the intruder) ran towards me, holding something like wood in his left hand and a long blade in his right hand. During the scuffle, he tried to stab me with the blade. When I tried to avoid the blow by putting my hand forward, I got a wound from the blade near the wrist of both my hands and on the middle finger of my left hand. At that time, I asked him what he wanted and he said ‘paisa chahiye (I want money)’. I asked ‘how much’. Then he spoke in English ‘1 crore’.”

At this point, the other nanny, Junu, rushed screaming, prompting Khan and Kareena to hurry into the room. A confrontation ensued between Khan and the intruder, who then attacked the actor. According to the FIR, Geeta, another staff member, also entered during the commotion and was injured in the process.

“At that time Saif Sir managed to get rid of him and we all ran out of the room and closed the door of the room. Then we all rushed to the upstairs room. By that time Ramesh, Hari, Ramu and Paswan who were sleeping in the staff room came out. When we went back to the room with them, the door of the room was open. The intruder had fled,” the FIR reads.
