New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has successfully rescued a fishing boat named Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Rosary that got stranded 215 nautical miles from Karwar, Karnataka, a PIB press release stated.
The boat had experienced engine failure on April 13, 2024, and the ICG Ship Savitribai Phule responded to the distress call of the crew. The communication between the ship and the ICG was established in spite of the adverse sea conditions. The boarding team of the ICG ship made efforts to fix the seized engine, but the boat was eventually rendered immobile.
The ICG ship was then towed to Karwar port with the assistance of the Coast Guard District Headquarters (Karnataka), in collaboration with the Fisheries department. The ICG handed the boat over to IFB Shree Laxmi Narayan, who safely escorted it to the Karwar port. The efforts of the ICG were praised by industry experts and boat owners who expressed their gratitude.
