Indian Coast Guard rescues injured fisherman from capsized boat

The ship successfully evacuated the injured fisherman from the IFB St Francis and promptly transferred him to a medical facility in Veraval for further treatment.

New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has successfully rescued a fisherman who was seriously injured due to a bad fall aboard the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) St Francis, a PIB press release stated.

The fisherman was on board the IFB St Francis when the boat capsized due to rough sea conditions about 130 kilometres west of Veraval, Gujarat on the night of May 1, 2024. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) responded swiftly to the emergency situation and sent the Ship C-153, which was on a surveillance mission at the time, to the area.

The ship successfully evacuated the injured fisherman from the IFB St Francis and promptly transferred him to a medical facility in Veraval for further treatment.
