New Delhi: The Indian Railways will operate 9111 extra trains in the upcoming summer season to meet the ever-increasing demand for travel. This is a significant increase in the number of trains in operation during the summer season 2024 compared to the previous year, a PIB press release stated.

This is 2742 more trips than the total number of trips operated during the summer season 2023. The increase in trips is due to the rising demand for travel from major destinations in the country. The additional trains have been planned to connect key destinations across India, providing smooth and comfortable travel to passengers.

The Indian Railways aims to provide a convenient and comfortable travel experience to all passengers during the summer season 2024. The additional trains will help in meeting the peak travel demand and ensuring smooth travel conditions. All zonal railways across India are working together to ensure the availability of drinking water at railway stations and ensure crowd control arrangements at major and important railway stations.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been deployed at foot-over bridges to ensure smooth crowd control and avoid stampede-like situations during the peak rush period. The booking of tickets for the additional trains can be done through railway ticket counters or the IRCTC website/app.
