Jodhpur: Following an emergency meeting held Thursday night at Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s residence, the Rajasthan government has released Rs 5 crore each for Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar districts bordering Pakistan in an attempt to strengthen security, ThePrint has learnt.
Phalodi, Jodhpur and Hanumangarh districts have been given Rs 2.5 crore each. Necessary equipment and services will be provided from this amount in case of an emergency.
Administrative changes were also decided at the meeting. In view of the current situation in the areas adjoining the border, the state government has appointed nine Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers in Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Barmer. All vacant posts of firemen in the border districts have also been filled and they have been ordered to join duty soon.
The government has further ordered 75 fire brigades to be sent to Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Barmer and Balotra.
It was decided at the meeting to cancel the leaves of all government employees. Instructions have also been given to immediately fill vacant posts in departments such as food, water, electricity, medicine and police in the border districts.
The meeting with the CM was attended by the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director Generals of Police and Intelligence, and Additional Director General, Law and Order.
According to the government of India, Pakistan tried to attack Nal, Uttarlai and Phalodi air bases in Rajasthan, but was foiled by India.
Sharma posted on X that in view of Operation Sindoor, a review meeting was held regarding border security in Rajasthan and the officers present were directed to cooperate with the army on priority basis and ensure immediate availability of necessary resources.
