New Delhi: India is leading the global energy transition with unprecedented speed, scale, and scope, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi. Speaking at the third India Energy Transition Conference in New Delhi, organized by FICCI, Joshi emphasized India’s rapid progress in achieving its ambitious renewable energy goals.

Joshi attributed the country’s success in the renewable energy sector to policy stability, a long-term vision, and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The nation aims to reach 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and 1,800 GW by 2047. The Pradhan Mantri SuryaGhar Yojana (PM SuryaGhar Yojana), which aims to install 1 crore solar panels, has already seen 8.5 lakh installations completed, providing income-generating opportunities for beneficiaries.

Recognizing the need to meet the anticipated doubling of India’s energy demand by 2032, Joshi stressed the importance of increased renewable energy financing. He assured stakeholders that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is committed to addressing existing bottlenecks through enhanced engagement and consultations.
