New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) has announced the successful transfer of two medical technologies developed by its researchers to industry, a PIB press release stated.
The technologies, namely ‘DNA Aptamer for Prostate Cancer Detection’ and ‘Photonic Chip based Spectrometric Biosensor’ for pathogen detection, have been transferred to Dr. Swapnil Sinha, HUMMSA Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata, India, and Mr. Nitin Zaveri, UNINO Healthcare Private Limited, Mumbai, India, on 31 July at an event hosted by IITD.
The ‘DNA Aptamer for Prostate Cancer Detection’ technology developed by Prof. Prashant Mishra and a team from IIT Delhi is capable of binding to the specific oncogenes and could be useful as theranostics for prostate cancer. The ‘Photonic Chip based Spectrometric Biosensor’ technology developed by Prof. Joby Joseph and a team from IIT Delhi has been developed to enable quick and accurate detection of the pathogens, thereby aiding in the prevention of infectious diseases.
The government-sponsored project Nanoelectronics Network for Research and Applications (NNetRA), under which the IIT Delhi team developed the two technologies, is being carried out by the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi.
FITT Team, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), plays a pivotal role in nurturing technology transfer by creating an enabling environment for technology developers to take their products to the market.
