Shimla, Jul 20 (PTI) The administration and local residents carried out a joint rescue operation under extremely difficult conditions to save a shepherd in remote Bada Bhangal area of Himachal’s Kangra district, officials said on Monday.
The shepherd, Nirjal Kumar, was grazing his flock in a designated pasture in Bada Bhangal when he suddenly suffered a severe health issue similar to paralysis, leaving him unable to walk or move.
Upon receiving news, the Baijnath and Bharmour administrations immediately swung into action. As helicopter services were unavailable due to inclement weather, the Bharmour administration dispatched 13 member ground rescue team.
The administration and local residents carried out a joint rescue operation under extremely difficult conditions to save the shepherd’s life, the officials added.
With assistance from local residents of Gram Panchayat Graunda, the rescue team navigated the extremely rugged and rocky terrain of Rei Dhar and using a stretcher, the team carried the patient on foot across approximately 18 kilometers of difficult mountain paths, eventually transporting him to the Civil Hospital in Holi on Sunday night.
