Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Apr 28 (PTI) With talks of leadership change intensified in the power corridor of the state, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday said the high command is set to give a ‘response’ soon.
He also said that the decision taken by the party high command will be acceptable to all.
“Our party’s high command will respond to all matters at the earliest. There is no confusion on our part. Whatever commitments we made to the people in 2023 are being followed through with appropriate programmes, and we are determined to implement all of them,” Parameshwara told reporters in the district headquarters town of Kalaburagi.
When reporters asked him whether Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is a strong contender for the chief minister’s post, would get a birthday gift from the party high command.
Parameshwara said any decision taken by the high command will be accepted by everyone in the party, who will stand by that decision.
To a question on the frequent demands earlier for a Dalit chief minister, Parameshwara said people express their views based on their opinions, affection, and trust.
However, the Congress high command takes note of all such views and makes the final decision, he added.
The minister also denied any confusion on the leadership issue in the state.
Supporters may make statements here and there in public, but that doesn’t indicate any real issue, he said, adding the government is functioning smoothly, the administration is on track, and all programmes are progressing as planned.
The government has presented a Rs 4 lakh crore budget, and none of the initiatives has been halted, Parameshwara said. PTI GMS GMS ADB
