Yamunanagar, Jul (PTI) Senior Congress leader and former MLA from Sadhaura assembly constituency Rajpal Bhukhri passed away at the age of 55 on Monday following a heart attack.
Bhukhri represented the Sadhaura assembly constituency of Yamunanagar district between 2009 and 2014.
He died in his village, Bhukhri in Naraingarh, due to a heart attack, party leaders said.
Within the party, he was considered a vocal leader and was considered close to senior Congress leader Kumari Selja.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Senior Congress leaders, including Kumari Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala, expressed grief over the demise of the party leader.
“Congress’s former MLA from Sadhaura in Haryana, Rajpal Bhukhri ji, passed away suddenly this morning due to a heart attack. With his demise, the Congress family has lost a dedicated comrade,” Surjewala said in a post on X in Hindi.
His life was a symbol of dedication to the Congress and commitment to its ideology, Surjewala said.
Kumari Selja, Congress general secretary and MP from Sirsa, condoled the demise of the former legislator and said the news is extremely heartbreaking and shocking.
“His public life has been a symbol of dedication to public service, commitment to the party organisation, and steadfast adherence to the Congress ideology. With his passing, the Congress family has lost a devoted comrade,” she said in a post on X in Hindi. PTI COR SUN SHS SHS
