Gujarat plane crash: Air India sets up dedicated passenger hotline

The airline said in a statement the Boeing 787-8 crashed after take-off from the Ahmedabad airport.

New Delhi: Air India Thursday said its Ahmedabad-London flight AI171 that crashed after take-off was carrying a total of 242 passengers and crew members.

In a statement, the airlines said the Boeing 787-8 aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs. The 242 passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, seven Portuguese nationals and crew members.

The injured are being taken to the nearest hospitals, Air India said.

“We have also set up a dedicated passenger hotline number 1800 5691 444 to provide more information. Air India is giving its full cooperation to the authorities investigating this incident,” it said in a post on X.
