Jhansi (UP), Apr 21 (PTI) A 57-year-old man was found hanging from a tree near a marriage venue in Jhansi after having left festivities of his nephew’s wedding, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Ishwar Singh, had accompanied a wedding party travelling from Kanpur to Moth town in the district.

According to family members, Singh was upset after he was left behind by mistake by the party on their way even though they were reunited later. They said he had got down from the bus en route for a brief halt but was inadvertently left behind as the vehicle moved ahead.

Though the bus was later stopped and he rejoined the procession, he was upset over the incident and reportedly left the marriage venue, police said.

His body was found hanging from a tree with a cloth noose near the venue on Monday morning, police said.

Family members alleged that he took the extreme step after feeling “humiliated” over being left behind during the journey.

“The baraat had stopped midway for a loo break. The bus later resumed journey while the uncle was left behind, leaving him very upset,” police said, citing family members’ statements.

Moth SHO R P Singh said the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway. PTI COR KIS PRK
