Faridabad, Jul 3 (PTI) A fire broke out in a lawyer’s chamber near the district court in Sector 12 here on Friday afternoon, gutting furniture, books and case records, officials said.

The blaze started in Chamber No 552 on the fifth floor and is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, a fire official said.

Lawyers in nearby chambers tried to extinguish the fire with extinguishers but failed due to the large quantity of paper records inside.

Two fire tenders brought the blaze under control after nearly one-and-a-half hours.

No one was inside the chamber when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported, police said.

Faridabad Bar Association president Rajesh Baisla said the affected chamber belongs to advocate Chandra Kaushik.

SHO Central police station Inspector Ranbir Singh said police and the fire department are investigating the exact cause of the fire. PTI COR APL APL
