Jaipur, Jun 19 (PTI) Fines were issued for more than 1.24 lakh vehicles in Rajasthan during a 15-day special enforcement drive against traffic rule violations, officials said on Friday.
Director General of Police (Traffic) Anil Paliwal said that between June 4 and 18, Rajasthan Police took action against a total of 1,24,384 vehicles across the state.
During the drive, the highest number of challans — 46,958 – were issued for vehicles with illegal black films on windows. This was followed by 31,961 challans for violations related to number plates and registration marks.
Additionally, 17,209 vehicles were penalised for displaying unauthorised words, symbols and writings, while 12,232 vehicles were booked for illegal modifications to body or chassis. Action was also taken against 9,271 vehicles for using unauthorised red and blue beacons, officials said.
Paliwal said the special drive is being carried out vigorously to improve traffic discipline and curb violations.
