New Delhi: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) installed a modern IP-based CCTV surveillance system on all its 561 major depots across the country to improve operational efficiency and safeguard the nation’s food security, a PIB release stated.

The new CCTV system, with 23,750 cameras, will provide high-resolution images and enable remote access, which will significantly enhance the company’s ability to monitor its storage operations.

FCI plays a crucial role in India’s food management by ensuring the procurement, storage, and distribution of food grains to meet the needs of the country’s population. The 561 FCI-owned depots have a critical role to play in fulfilling the needs of the Public Distribution System and various welfare schemes initiated by the Government of India. Effective surveillance of these storage operations is essential at all times.

The installation of CCTV cameras on all its major depots across the country is a step towards strengthening the security and operational efficiency of FCI, the release stated. The new CCTV system will feature advanced video analytics and strengthened security measures, enabling FCI to effectively oversee and manage day-to-day operations across its depots.

“The implementation of this new IP-based system will significantly enhance monitoring capabilities through high-resolution imaging, improved scalability, and remote access,” it added.
