New Delhi: Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad have arrested two men in connection with an incident of a farmer slapping a tehsildar in Nagla Tursi village in Jasrana tehsil of Firozabad district.

According to reports, the tehsildar along with a team of revenue department officials had gone to the village to resolve a land dispute when a farmer — purportedly a party to the dispute — slapped the tehsildar twice, causing him to fall to the ground.

A one-minute and thirty two-second video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows the tehsildar initially gesturing as if he was about to slap the farmer, but the farmer slapped him instead.

Reacting to the video, Firozabad Police in a post on X (formerly Twitter) said a case has been registered under relevant sections at Jasrana police station, and the two accused have been sent to judicial custody.

Reports suggest that the tehsildar and revenue officials had gone to Nagla Tursi to mediate a dispute after receiving a complaint of encroachment . It was during their visit that two men from the accused side, Dharmendra and Vireshwar, began to argue with the officials.

Following the physical altercation with the tehsildar, the revenue team, too, reportedly faced threats from supporters of the two men. It has also been reported that after the incident, one of the two men allegedly kicked the tehsildar to the ground.

Following their arrest, the two men were taken before the Sub Divisional Magistrate and charged with disrupting the peace.
