New Delhi: One of the suspects who allegedly opened fire at reality TV star and controversial influencer Elvis Yadav’s house in Gurugram was arrested Friday early morning after a brief encounter, the Faridabad police said.
Sources said that the police had received an input that the accused, 19-year-old Ishant alias Ishu Gandhi, was hiding in Faridpur village after which teams started combing the area. “When the police team approached and surrounded him, he fired at the team with an automatic pistol. He was overpowered and was taken to the hospital,” a senior police officer told ThePrint.
The arrest was made after the alleged shooter was shot in the leg between 4 am and 5 am.
Gandhi, a resident of Jawahar Colony in Faridabad, is said to be associated with the Neeraj Faridpuria gang. “He had come to meet someone and was returning via the Faridpur road when police teams nabbed him,” the officer said.
Investigators are currently questioning him about the others involved in the shooting incident. They are also checking his past crime records.
On 17 August, three men had reached Yadav’s house and two were seen opening fire after they fled on a motorcycle. Following the incident, a First Information Report was lodged on the basis of the complaint filed by Yadav’s father Ramavtar Yadav.
Later, a post had surfaced on social media after the firing and the Himanshu Bhau gang had claimed responsibility for it. Bhau, a fugitive gangster, is currently believed to be in the US.
Criminal gangs are said to be scouting for young recruits to carry out such hit-and-run tasks for them. In the high-profile killing of Sidhu Mooswala, a 19-year-old, allegedly part of the then Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang, was arrested for his alleged role in the shooting that took place in May 2022.
