Jaipur, Apr 10 (PTI) A two-day special health check-up camp for elephants began on Friday at Hathi Gaon in Jaipur, with a team of expert veterinarians conducting detailed examinations, officials said.
The camp is being organised by the forest department to monitor the health of elephants housed at the facility, they said.
Deputy Director of Nahargarh Biological Park, Arvind Mathur, and senior wildlife veterinarian Ashok Tanwar supervised the health assessment.
Mathur said a three-member medical board examined 54 elephants, collecting blood, faecal and eye samples, while also administering medicines for foot care.
The samples have been sent to a state disease diagnostic centre for further analysis to detect any potential health issues at an early stage, he said. He added that the elephants were also given vitamins, minerals and other supplements, and their microchips were checked during the exercise. PTI AG PRK
