Una (HP), Apr 14 (PTI) With the constitution of a new organisational body, the Himachal Pradesh Congress has begun efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections, state party chief Vinay Kumar told reporters on Tuesday.

As part of the activities, a training camp for district party presidents of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted from April 21 to 30 in Kangra, where senior Congress leader and former party president Rahul Gandhi will interact with the attendees, Kumar said.

This will infuse new energy into the party workers, he added.

To give an impetus to the party’s activities, Block Congress Presidents will soon be appointed across the state.

Following this, the Congress Executive Committees will be constituted at the district level.

Interacting with reporters here, Kumar expressed confidence that Congress was fully prepared for elections to panchayati raj institutions and municipal corporations, and it has devised a comprehensive framework for this purpose.

A committee would be constituted to authorise Congress candidates for the district council and municipal corporation elections, he said, urging party workers to extend their support exclusively to these authorised candidates.

Calling the local body elections “semi-finals”, Kumar said that next year, the Congress would begin preparations for the assembly elections.

“My objective is to strengthen the Congress party and bring a Congress government back to power in the state,” he said.

Kumar also took a dig at the BJP, remarking that unlike it, the Congress does not engage in malicious propaganda and instead promotes its policies and developmental agenda.

He further claimed that the BJP is fragmented into various factions, whereas the Congress remains free of any factionalism.

The state Congress chief asserted that there is complete synergy between the government and the party organisation, and that they would move forward by taking everyone along. PTI COR BPL RUK RUK
