New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture has extended the e-auction of mementos gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi until 31 October. The auction, which originally ran from September 17 to October 2, 2024, features a diverse collection of items reflecting India’s rich cultural, spiritual, and historical heritage.
According to a PIB press release, the e-auction offers a unique opportunity for individuals to acquire artifacts and art pieces gifted to the Prime Minister during his tenure. Items on display include traditional art forms such as paintings, sculptures, indigenous handicrafts, and folk and tribal artifacts. Notable items include Khaadi shawls, Silver Filigree, Mata Ni Pachedi Art, Gond Art, and Madhubani Art, and other items such as traditional angavastras, shawls, headgear, and ceremonial swords.
First launched in January 2019, this is the sixth edition of the e-auction series. Proceeds from the auction will support the Namami Gange Project, the Union Government’s flagship initiative dedicated to the conservation and restoration of the river Ganga, and towards the protection of its ecosystem.
