New Delhi, Jul 24 (PTI) The Delhi poll body has appointed four senior IAS officers as observers to oversee the upcoming objection and claims phase and preparation of final electoral rolls under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, officials said on Friday.
According to a Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office document, IAS officers of the Delhi government, Pandurang Pole, Rashmi Singh, Yashpal Garg and K Mahesh have been appointed observers for SIR in different districts.
While Pole is observer of North West, West and South West districts, Singh is observer of South East, South and New Delhi districts, and Garg of Central North, North, Outher North, Old Delhi and North districts.
Mahesh has been appointed observer of North East, East and Central districts.
Currently, door-to-door exercise for filling up of enumeration forms is underway. The Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have so far distributed enumeration forms to almost all the 1.45 crore voters and digitised around 40 percent of the filled forms.
The observers will undertake visits in the districts assigned to them, first during the period of receipt of claims and objections from voters from August 17 to September 16. The second round of visits will commence from September 17 to October 15 when claims and objections will be disposed of by the poll officials.
They will also make visits at the time of verification of the working copy by the BLOs, and final publication of electoral rolls on October 19.
An officer of Delhi CEO office said the observers were part of the exercise to ensure that the entire SIR exercise is completed with transparency and genuine concerns of the voters are adequately addressed. PTI VIT VIT MDO MDO
