New Delhi, Oct 2 (PTI) The Delhi government is constructing an 11-storeyed building of the DTC headquarters that is estimated to cost around Rs 128.23 crore, officials said on Friday.

The new building comprising two basements, ground floor and 11 storeys, will be constructed on the land of the existing headquarters building of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) at IP Estate Bus Depot.

Last December, DTC signed an agreement with the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (DSIIDC) for construction of the building. The DSSIDC has issued a tender inviting construction agencies for the project, officials said.

The estimated cost of the building will be Rs 128.23 crore and it will be built over the next two years following work award, according to the tender document.

The new building will be spread over 26,000 square metres (2.6 hectares) and will replace the old headquarters.

According to the officials, the existing one has grown structurally outdated and inadequate to support the operational needs of Delhi’s rapidly-expanding transport network.

Out of 26,000 square metres, the operational area will be 12,234 square metres, while the new building will be located on 6,158 square metres.

The plan also incorporates a green area of 9,681.71 square metres, 20 per cent of the total land, ensuring an “environmentally-conscious and future-ready campus,” officials said.

According to the MoU, 50 per cent of the commercial usage rights will remain with the DSIIDC for 30 years.

The new complex will park 200 buses and will have space in the basement for more than 200 cars.

Firefighting, audio-visual system, access control, CCTV network, lifts, high side and low side HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system will be part of the new building. PTI VIT VN

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
