Officials said around 12 people are still feared trapped under the debris of the multi-storey building, located in the congested alley of a densely populated locality. They said relief and rescue work has been hampered as the site can only be accessed through narrow bylanes where movement of heavy machinery is not easy.
According to PTI, the building came crashing down in the early hours, trapping 22 people. Fourteen of them were pulled out and rushed to the GTB Hospital where four were declared brought dead, a senior police officer was quoted as saying by the news agency.
NDRF Deputy Inspector General Mohsen Shahedi told ANI, “According to the information received from locals, around 12 people are still trapped. Our NDRF team and other agencies are engaged in rescue work.”

Delhi Fire Services personnel are also at the site. Divisional Fire Officer Rajendra Atwal has reportedly said they received a call around 2.50 am about the collapse.
CCTV footage provided by a local resident, shows that at around 2.39 am, there was a sudden spark and then a thick cloud of dust filled the area as the building gave way.

Shehzad Ahmed, who lost two nephews in the incident, told ANI that his sister, brother-in-law, and niece were also injured and have been admitted to GTB Hospital.
Mustafabad MLA and Delhi assembly Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht announced “appropriate compensation” for the families of the deceased, without sharing the details.
He claimed he had warned that the building could collapse when he had visited the area three months ago during the elections.
Mustafabad houses several illegally constructed buildings that could cause harm, and this incident has “exposed” the AAP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), he said.
“I have told Delhi L-G V. K. Saxena and the MCD commissioner that action should be taken against the officials for their negligence,” Bisht told ANI.
“Power discoms are not providing power connections to the poor, but there are poles inside houses (in Mustafabad). The MCD and other departments are drenched in corruption…” he added.
