Shahjahanpur (UP), Jun 22 (PTI) A couple was killed and their 10-year-old son injured after their motorcycle was hit by a pickup vehicle in Shahjahanpur district, police said on Monday.
The accident took place near Tatiyari village when the family was on its way to attend a function at a relative’s place in Madanpur area on Sunday night.
Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit said Santosh Sharma (55), his wife Kiran (50) and their son Shobhit were travelling on a motorcycle when a pickup vehicle coming from the opposite direction collided with them.
Following the accident, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a government hospital, where doctors declared Santosh dead. His wife later succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Farrukhabad, the SP said.
Dixit said the couple’s son suffered minor injuries and is safe. The pickup driver fled from the spot after the accident and efforts are underway to trace him.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, police said. PTI COR KIS DV DV
