Varanasi (UP), Oct 2 (PTI) BJP’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde on Friday asked party workers and office-bearers to be active on social media and counter narratives put out by the Samajwadi Party and Congress.

Addressing a social media workshop in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency, he urged BJP workers to conduct electoral campaigns at grassroots level and through digital platforms, said Varanasi Mahanagar BJP president Pradeep Agrahari.

Tawde said workers should respond to the “lies, deceit and rumours” circulated by the opposition on social media with facts and truth.

He said social media is no longer merely a platform to mark one’s presence but has become an important medium to connect with people and put across the party’s message effectively. The party workers should develop their own narratives based on facts rather than merely follow those set by the opposition, he added.

Pointing out that young people born after 2000 had not witnessed the period before 2014, Tawde said that therefore, the difference between the situation before and after 2014 should be explained to them with facts.

He urged party workers to highlight the development works in Kashi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public life through platforms such as Facebook, X and Instagram.

He asked them to counter any narrative posted by the Samajwadi Party and Congress on social media and effectively communicate the development works carried out by the BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP leader further stressed the need to use social media to publicise various government welfare schemes and ensure that information about them reaches people across the state.

He also urged the party workers to take government schemes digitally to every village and ultimately to the mobile phones of individual beneficiaries, Agrahari said.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
