Hamirpur (HP), Aug 14 (PTI) Hundreds of BJP workers, led by former Union Minister and current Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur, took part in a Tiranga Yatra here on Friday.

The procession, which began at Bhota Chowk and concluded at Gandhi Chowk in Hamirpur town, saw participation from the party office-bearers and workers, Yuva Morcha members and school students.

Barsar MLA Indradutt Lakhanpal, Hamirpur Sadar MLA Ashish Sharma, and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana were also among the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Thakur accused the Congress of politicising the national flag and the national song Vande Mataram.

Accusing the opposition party of questioning the Tiranga Yatras, the MP said, “No one respects the Tricolour better than Indians do. The Congress engages in politics over Vande Mataram and the Tricolour while simultaneously singing the praises of Pakistan.” He also launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, saying that one can no longer expect dignified language from him.

The Congress had insulted a foreign female president just as they had insulted the country’s own female president, Thakur said.

Referring to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), Thakur said citizens would benefit from the law in future, as it would enable monitoring of foreign funds.

Describing FCRA as a law vital to national security, he alleged that the opposition parties were opposing it. PTI COR BPL RUK RUK
