New Delhi, Sep 21 (PTI) The BJP on Monday hit back at the Congress for calling the SIR exercise a “Method Of Disenfranchising Indians”, saying that the opposition party keeps searching for “a new alibi” to hide Rahul Gandhi’s failures.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari told PTI that Gandhi and the Congress owe the country an apology.
Earlier on Monday, the Congress alleged that over 33.13 lakh notices were being issued in the national capital over discrepancies in details furnished by people in their enumeration forms.
Responding to a critical post over the name of late economist Bibek Debroy appearing in the list of voters being issued notices, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said, “Actually at work here is a Method Of Disenfranchising Indians.” Ramesh posted the words “Method Of Disenfranchising Indians” vertically so that the first capital letter of every word together read “MODI”.
Most notices were issued for voter details not matching with the information in the last Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 2002.
BJP spokesperson Bhandari said Gandhi and the Congress owe the country an apology.
“Until yesterday, they claimed that the SIR was a way to remove opposition voters from the electoral rolls. Now they say BJP leaders are receiving notices and ask why the BJP is silent,” he said.
“The truth is that the Congress keeps searching for a new alibi… to hide Rahul Gandhi’s failures,” the BJP spokesperson said. PTI ADI DIV DIV
