Shimla, Jun 20 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday inaugurated a multi-storey parking facility at SDA complex in Kasumpti, Shimla, built at a cost of Rs 28.37 crore with a capacity to accommodate 315 vehicles.
Addressing the gathering, Sukhu said that the state government is committed to providing better civic infrastructure and basic amenities to the people.
“This parking facility will be beneficial to locals and tourists alike. The present state government had made adequate budget provision to complete the construction work of this parking facility. Shimla requires more parking lots and the government is focusing on constructing more such facilities,” he said.
The chief minister said the government is spending Rs. 246 crore on an underground utility duct system to make Shimla a more organized and efficient city.
“Overhead cables across the city were being shifted underground to improve its visual appeal and provide a better experience for the people. This will not only strengthen the city’s infrastructure but also support tourism by preserving Shimla’s old glory and scenic beauty,” he said.
Sukhu also said the state government is spending Rs 150 crore on the improvement and widening of the Circular Road in Shimla.
“The decongestion of this road will go a long way in facilitating smoother movement for both local residents and tourists,” he said. PTI COR MDO MDO
