Raipur, Jan 28 (PTI) Residents of Raipur were left mesmerised on Saturday by performances of traditional folk dancers on the first day of the state-level Youth Festival.

The three-day cultural extravaganza was inaugurated by School Education Minister Premsai Singh Tekam who hailed the event as a better platform for youths to express their talent. He said the festival will also provide an opportunity to know and understand the rich traditions of the state, culture, and folk dance forms.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Umesh Patel said the festival is being organised under 38 categories including 24 cultural disciplines, six sports disciplines, and seven others.

“Apart from it, Chhattisgarh Lok Sahitya Sammelan is organised for the creation of literature in dialects like Chhattisgarhi, Halbi, Gondi, Kudukh, and Sargujiha. It is a confluence of diverse cultures and traditions,” he added.
