Chandigarh, Apr 16 (PTI) Several schools in Chandigarh and Punjab’s Barnala received bomb threat emails on Thursday, officials said, adding that nothing suspicious was found after checks.

After receiving information about threats, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and other teams, including police, ambulances and fire brigade, were rushed to schools, they said.

In Barnala, six schools received bomb threat emails, police said.

Barnala Senior Superintendent of Police Mohd Sarfaraz Alam said after getting intimation about the threats, concerned officials, including anti-sabotage teams, police station teams were activated.

As a precautionary measure, all schools were checked, he said, adding that the police force was also deployed outside schools.

The fresh scare comes close on the heels of similar threats in the past few weeks at multiple places in Punjab and Haryana, where such emails later turned out to be hoaxes.

A few days ago, several schools in Patiala and Moga received bomb threat emails in Punjab, but nothing suspicious was found. PTI CHS APL
